Auditing, in terms of a management system, is the process of systematically and independently evaluating the effectiveness of the management system or elements of the system for compliance with objectives and requirements.
Audits seek to find objective evidence (findings) to demonstrate that the system has been implemented and that defined objectives and requirements have been fulfilled.
Where objective evidence is not available, analysis of the findings needs to be undertaken and corrective actions determined and implemented to correct the immediate issue and improvements need to be determined and implemented to prevent recurrence.
The findings from audits lead to changes in the management system (improvements).
Types of Audit.
